Reminiscence (2021)

Locked in a future where sea levels swallow old Miami, you are drawn into the shimmering world of Reminiscence, the psychological thriller that turns memories into lifelines. What makes it unique is Joaquin Phoenix’s quiet command; he carries every scene with almost no dialogue, letting a desperate man and a mysterious woman register the weight of a shared past in silence. The standout element is the film’s fully realized fetish for illusionary architecture, where every flooded street feels like a dreamscape carved from light alone. Yet the pace lingers a bit in the third act, stretching the denouement until its tension peaks and slightly dissolves. If you thrive on cerebral dramas that explore identity through layers of time, this will keep you guessing until the final frame.
