Plot Summary
One year into a plague of flesh-eating, mind-altering worms, the nocturnal town of Ashland, Ohio, has embraced the parasites’ rule. Under cult-like Mayor Joshua, zealous Ranchers spread their gospel—by persuasion or by force. A trio of uninfected women cling to survival through scavenging, extreme hygiene, and evasion. But everyone breaks eventually, unleashing betrayal, sacrilege, and body horror.
Our Take
Expert, independent review by the HollyFlixHD Editorial Team
Wormtown flips the nightmare of a parasite-infested Ohio town into a clinical study of dread, leaving you to feel the creeping fear before the horror even unfurls. What makes it unique is its relentless inspection of communal collapse, turning every quiet corner into a potential capitulation of order. Standout element: Joaquin Phoenix delivers a catlike menace, making each silent look feel like a tightening noose. The pacing lurches somewhat as it lingers in dread, occasionally dragging the intensity into a slow crawl. Who it's for: you are ready for a psychological horror that blends body terror with cultic dread.
