Wicked (2024)

Every glance at the glittering sandstone corridor pulls you into a world where every corridor echoes with promise. Unlike its predecessor, this 2024 musical fantasy marries the angst of a high school drama with the enchantment of Oz, delivering an emotional rollercoaster that feels both fresh and nostalgically familiar. Keitel anchors the story with a quietly powerful presence, while the score waltzes around her, turning even silence into an unexpected song. However, the pacing can feel uneven, especially in the middle act where the plot takes a meandering detour through cafeteria drama. If you love core emotional arcs and bold music that doesn’t shy away from mythic drama, you’ll find yourself humming long after the credits roll.
