West Side Story (2021)

Step into a neon‑lit ballet where every beat feels sharper than a razor‑edge knife. Sam Mendes unspools a modern reinterpretation of a mid‑century classic, marrying slick camera work with dance that feels almost brushstroke‑like. The choreographic wizardry of Jon M. Chu, combined with Andrew Lloyd Webber's score, turns every tableau into a visual anthem. The only kink you might feel is a mid‑act lag that drags the rhythm a bit, but its emotional climax more than makes up for it. If you’re craving a romance that bursts into color and dancing before your eyes, this is a romantic musical that reminds you why the stage can light a fire in the city.
