Thriller 40 (2023)

Imagine stepping behind the curtain of a cultural phenomenon as the soundtrack of a generation is deconstructed through never‑before‑seen footage. The 40‑year‑old doc keeps its focus by treating Michael Jackson’s studio as a living ecosystem, letting the music itself narrate the story. A standout moment comes when the camera captures the moment a lyric was rewritten at the last second, underscoring the meticulous craft behind the pop legend. The experience feels like a fan‑only museum tour, laden with nostalgia and quiet reverence – a rare treat for those who privilege insight over spectacle. Catching a few pacing lulls when the narrative meanders through personal anecdotes, you’ll still find the reel a compelling retrospective.
