The Ugly Stepsister (2025)

In a kingdom where beauty sells lives, the pressure to outshine your reflection feels immediate. The Ugly Stepsister reimagines the fairy‑tale as a ruthless marketplace in a dark fantasy kingdom where the stepsister becomes a fierce competitor. Lead actress Lily Chen delivers a fierce, no‑nonsense performance that reads like a political monologue disguised as a child’s dance. The film’s chiaroscuro lighting and obsidian‑baroque setpieces pull you into a pageant that feels like a social media feed gone dark. While the second act drags a touch, the payoff is an unforgettable critique of beauty culture that sparks conversation.
