The Substance (2024)

Our Take
Expert, independent review by the HollyFlixHD Editorial Team
In a world where reinvention bleeds into the body, you’re taken on a cerebral psychological thriller that blurs fame, science, and identity. The Substance breaks the usual body-horror formula by letting the protagonist rewrite her own history in a literal, cell-replicating way so you watch a younger version of herself collide with her own past. The film’s standout moment comes when a shattered glass mask reflects two identical eyes, forcing you to choose between memory and desire—a effect that feels both chilling and inevitable. Ideal for fans of psychological thrillers who enjoy non-linear storytelling.
