The Roundup (2022)

A weary cop grips the tightrope between law and darkness as he steps into an unfamiliar nation, his presence hanging like a ghost. The Roundup, a tense crime thriller, unspools a web of distrust that turns each suspicious glance into a potential trigger. What sets it apart is the way director Jung Tae-kyoung layers stealthy camera work with a neon-soaked cityscape that feels alive and claustrophobic at the same time. You’ll be drawn in if you love cerebral chases that simmer rather than explode, and appreciate when a single performance can convey vulnerability without a word. The only snag is the stretched pacing in the second act, which can feel like the wind filling too many gaps.
