The Red Envelope (2025)

At midnight, a cursed engagement ring entangles a thief‑turned‑informant with a silent ghost, and you’re pulled into a surreal, half‑whispered noir that feels like a neon whisper on a rainy alley. What makes it unique is the film’s daring reversal of the haunted house trope—ghostly love is forged over a punchline, not a scream. Ethan Hawke delivers a gun‑than‑sigh performance that anchors every beat, while Adam Driver’s spectral presence flickers like a saying‑soon ghost, injecting a rare visual metaphor that lingers. You’ll enjoy how the film balances absurd humor with the chill of a locked‑up mystery, making each quiet exchange feel like a breath‑holding stare across a void. Mid‑calendar pacing, however, lets the story half‑drift between the opener’s rush and the resolution’s final eureka.
