The Housemaid (2025)

You might expect a quiet domestic drama, but the film plunges you into a labyrinth of forbidden desire and looming danger. Its twist on the housemaid trope turns the novice into a calculating chess master, navigating cliques of wealth and suspicion. Juliette Lewis delivers a chilling, almost otherworldly performance that makes the protagonist a puppet and puppeteer in equal parts. A few head‑long moments in the middle sputter at a slightly slow pace, but it largely arcs into a taut crescendo. If you thrive on psychological thrillers that weave tension through strata of power, this story will grip you.
