The Electric State (2025)

Your lights flicker and the scene shifts to a cracked desert highway wrapped in neon—this is a road‑trip that feels more like an odyssey than a simple escape. The hybrid tec‑punk and romance update of Christian Keyes’s concept shines something rare: a robot that refuses to act as a prop and instead shapes the narrative with back‑talk in rusted cables. This sci‑fi drama delivers an intimate bond between a teenager and her metallic sibling that undercuts the visually intense showdown, which at times drags through the middle third. You’ll find the pacing a bit uneven after the opening hour, causing some tension to wane. Prepare to be drawn into a world where color is both a weapon and a promise, a style that never feels sanitized.
