The Beloved (2026)

With its quiet, claustrophobic framing, The Beloved pulls you into the reluctant collaboration of a seasoned director and his estranged daughter, forcing you to question whether the only thing left to shoot is the past itself. What makes this drama stand out is its refusal to hand you a narrative roadmap; instead, it clings to fragmented memories that bleed into each other like wet film. Alessandra’s vulnerable portrayal of a struggling actress flashes in stark relief against a single, meticulously composed long take that reverberates through the entire room. You might find the middle act dragging, as more emphasis is laid on devinishing flashbacks than forward momentum. Yet for those who relish slow-burn, introspective dramas that pry into the quiet failings of family bonds, The Beloved rewards patience with an unexpectedly potent emotional payoff.
