Sentimental Value (2025)

You feel the tug of a faded stage light entering a quiet apartment that seems to echo with unresolved pasts. Sentimental Value weaves a bittersweet family drama with a touch of cinema‑inside‑cinema reflection, as struggling actor Nora navigates her estranged father's shadowy comeback. The film's most arresting moment is the lone, hand‑held corridor shot that places Nora and Agnes at once vulnerable and defiant, while the director Gustav's ghost is felt more than seen. The subtle contrast between Nora’s stage‑wise stillness and the young star’s frenetic energy captures how ambitions clash across generations. Watch it if you enjoy layered character studies that linger in the margins of memory. The only hiccup lies in the middle act's lagging pace, which momentarily saps the film’s magnetic pull.
