Plot Summary

In the 14th-century, as the Silk Road crumbles and rival factions tear the land apart, fearless warrior Timur emerges from exile. Stripped of everything, he fights to unite the fractured kingdoms, using strategy and sheer will to carve an empire from chaos. Undefeated in battle and widely regarded as one of history’s greatest military leaders and tacticians, not to mention one of its most brutal, Timur would found the Timurid Empire, which ruled over modern-day Afghanistan, Iran and Central Asia.

Worth Watching

When rival factions tear the ancient Silk Road apart, an unstoppable force emerges, demanding your full attention. This brutal historical epic, Rise of the Conqueror, immerses you entirely in the tactical chaos of 14th-century Central Asia. What grips you is not just the scale of the battles, but the cold calculus of ambition wielded by the titular warrior. While the middle section occasionally drags with lengthy council meetings, the breathtaking, kinetic sequences of siege warfare elevate the viewing experience beyond measure. If you appreciate grand-scale historical fiction that treats its political machinery with ruthless detail, this film is a monumental watch.
