Old (2021)

A hidden beach that erodes your years like sand through a tide pool hooks you before you even notice the horizon's promise. The film's undoing of a simple getaway into a day‑long survival game turns familiar tropes into a tense, gradually sliding countdown. Joaquin Phoenix carries the tension with almost no dialogue, turning each stretch of silence into a ticking mortality clock. A pacing hiccup in the second act makes the transition feel slightly drag, but it rarely undermines the psychological crunch. If you thrive on a slow‑burn psychological thriller that turns time into a suffocating backdrop, every frame of Old will keep your pulse racing.
