Men (2022)

When the English countryside turns into a cradle of dread, you find yourself caught in a quiet, unsettling lull that never quite lets go. Men is a psychological horror that unfolds like a slow burn, playing with memories and myths instead of conventional stalker tropes. The film's haunting visual rhythm, driven by the vertical framing of the woods and the subtle resonance of its score, keeps you listening for the next flick of a distant twig. You will appreciate Joaquin Phoenix's chilling physicality, which reduces dialogue to a mere whisper and forces the narrative to creep into your own psyche. The pacing takes a deliberate breath that can feel sluggish to those craving outright terror, but it ultimately delivers a haunting tableau of grief and fear.
