Plot Summary
Luca and his best friend Alberto experience an unforgettable summer on the Italian Riviera. But all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: they are sea monsters from another world just below the water’s surface.
Our Take
Expert, independent review by the HollyFlixHD Editorial Team
When waves kiss the shore, you find your own splash of adventure. Luca, a heartfelt 2D animated summer in the Italian Riviera, blends friendship and terror beneath turquoise tides. The texture of the water and the soundtrack by Anya Zidi capture the breeziness of beach life, while the reveal that Luca and Alberto are sea monsters feels fresh on the screen. However, the final stretch drags a bit, especially when the story lingers on the monsters’ folklore. You’ll love it if you’re after a family-friendly film that balances whimsy and gentle suspense.
