Plot Summary

In the summer of 1859, a widowed physician reluctantly agrees to take a recently freed slave and her mysterious Caucasian daughter on a five-day journey through the bloody West to find a distant town's Faith Healer. Must Watch

Picture an 1859 summer, the West like an echoing corridor, and a widowed physician pulled into a road trip that feels more like a descent into the heart of mortality. What sets this period drama apart is that every interaction becomes a silent contract with death, turning the film into a silent test of will. Joaquin Phoenix carries every scene with almost no dialogue, turning his restrained inaction into a chilling chorus of dread whenever a hand meets a body. You will find yourself drawn in if you appreciate a slow-burn thriller that reveals its terror through atmosphere rather than exposition.
