Icefall (2025)

From the moment the first drop of snow lands on the frozen lake, tension lingers as if the earth itself is holding its breath. The film fuses the raw intensity of a survival thriller with the cultural depth of an Indigenous perspective, turning every ice fissure into a character that pressures you forward. A non‑verbal performance by the poacher, delivered by Jonah Hill, converts silence into a menacing undercurrent that keeps the audience perched on their seats. If you thrive on stories where the landscape is an active antagonist, you’ll find this flick richly rewarding. A mid‑film pacing hiccup slightly blurs the narrative focus, but the gut‑wrenched stakes outweigh this momentary gasp.
