Her Heart Beats in its Cage (2025)

When the walls of the prison are replaced by the walls of your own judgment, you are drawn into a grim ballet of redemption and denial. Its sharp edge comes from Hong’s raw, unfiltered performance, turning each cell into a stage for the most human of dramas. The standout is the art workshop, where her gritty brushstrokes paint a silent plea for freedom. And there is a genuine, simmering tension that builds without theatrics—an emotional tapestry that will keep you quiet in the dark. It isn’t without hiccups; the middle act leaves an uneasy lull that will test your patience, but the payoff is a palpable catharsis. If you crave a film where every look is laden with subtext and every silence screams aloud, this will resonate.
