Hellfire (2026)

When a wandering loner steps into a town gripped by fear, the air thickens with a sense of desperate stakes. Hellfire's razor‑sharp mood and brutal simplicity transform a familiar crime‑boss tale into a tense, claustrophobic cat‑and‑mouse game. With Joaquin Phoenix delivering almost no dialogue yet shaping every tense beat, the film feels like a study in shadow and subtle menace that you can't ignore. The film's slow burn lets quiet moments linger, though a few extended expository scenes could have been snappier. You find yourself drawn into the simmering dread of a small town on a knife's edge, making the experience feel foreboding and emotionally raw. If you’re ready for a low‑budget, visceral drama that turns to the human cost of power, this is the kind of midnight pick you’ll remember.
