Must Watch

You’ll be drawn into the quiet collapse of a man who once made words ignite audiences. Futon (2024) slips into the rare realm where a middle-aged screenwriter’s midlife slump is fed not by revenge but by a spirited twenty-year-old fan who challenges his creative stagnation. The film’s tension hinges on a nearly silent performance by its lead, who balances intellectual alienation with a taboo attraction that feels oddly tender and compelling. You will appreciate Futon if you crave a slow-burn, psychologically sharp drama that rewards attentive observation of human frailty and artistic resurgence. Yet, the third act stretches a bit, letting the climax slip from the urgency built in earlier scenes.
