Elevation (2024)

Feeling the cold bite of the 8,000‑foot threshold, you will be pulled into a world where escape means chilling in the shadows of the Rocky Mountains. In this post‑apocalyptic thriller, the survivalist community huddles together under a tension‑filled sky, and the film’s low‑key dialogue rustles like distant echoing footsteps. Joaquin Phoenix, invisible but unforgettable, carries the desperate desperation, turning every half‑sentence into a mountain‑sized heartbeat. Yet, the film lags a moment in the third act, as a sudden rush of action feels like a step too narrow for its otherwise deliberate pacing. If a dark, cerebral horror with nuanced character study is what you crave, this silent wilderness will be your quiet, exhilarating companion.
