Cherry (2021)

You’ll find yourself suffused in a bleak, post‑war haze where every quiet moment feels alive with raw fear. What sets this psychological drama apart is Phoenix’s ability to convey the weight of trauma without a word, letting his disquieted eyes do the talking. The most striking element is the film’s brutal, unfiltered depiction of PTSD that spills over into the world of street crime, making the consequences feel painfully real. If you’re drawn to gritty, character‑driven stories that don’t bargain away the darkness, this film will challenge but reward you. Only shortfall is a sluggish conclusion that stretches a third act long enough to numb the earlier urgency.
