Bottoms (2023)

Picture a high‑school gym turned battleground where two unlikely friends challenge a brutal hierarchy through improvised self‑defense lessons. Bottoms blurs the line between comedy‑drama and choreographed spectacle, delivering an audacious blend of teenage awkwardness with fight choreography that feels like a rebellious dance routine. The standout moment is the director’s choice to frame every sparring session as a performative tableau, turning each punch into a powerful commentary on self‑esteem and peer pressure. You’ll notice a hiccup in pacing after the second act, as some quieter scenes out‑of‑sync with the story’s kinetic rise. Bottoms is perfect for fans of sharp wit who also crave authentic teen dynamics and a daringly irreverent take on self‑disciplined rebellion.
