Apex (2021)

You find yourself spiraling into a claustrophobic nightmare as an ex‑cop faces a death‑match on a desolate island. What sets Apex apart is its razor‑sharp focus on psychological terror over visceral gore, turning the entire setting into a relentless character. The standout element is the uncanny, almost spoken word performance by Liam James, who delivers tension with only sparse lines and a palpable haunted stare. The film does let its pacing swell in midsection, turning an already tense chase into a sluggish affair that feels like a lost hour. If you crave bone‑shaking intensity mixed with a moral quandary, Apex will keep you on the edge.
