Anora (2024)

Anora pulls you into a city‑born romance that feels more like a bullet‑point plot than a fairy tale. Its blend of political satire, cracked romantic tropes, and a tediously dark mood keeps the pace uneven after the midpoint, but never loses sight of its heart in a way most romances do. The standout moment is Cécile de France’s raw, unfiltered performance that makes you wonder whether she’s a survivor or a free‑spirited relic. If you appreciate films that mix love with revenge, this will leave your emotions on a string that never quite snaps. There's a slight pacing hiccup in the second act, though it doesn’t eclipse the story’s emotional resonance.
