Amsterdam (2022)

You start watching a backdrop of a smoke‑filled city that feels both past and eerily familiar. The film fuses a pharmacy‑setting mystery with a slow‑burn crime thriller tone that sharpens each frame. Joaquin Phoenix delivers a wearied, near‑monologue performance that anchors the tense mood. You’ll appreciate the inverted logic, cinematic shadows and deadpan humor that lean into a gritty‑noir vibe. Though the final act stretches a bit longer than necessary, the layers of intrigue hold your attention.
