Aftersun (2022)

You might anticipate a nostalgic chill that drips from a picture disguised as a film reel. Aftersun, a quiet drama, explores how a daughter’s memory threads together with her father's muted confession. The film's standout element is Joaquin Phoenix’s hushed presence, a near-silent sprawl that lets the past unfold in small, tangible frames. A subtle flaw lies in its slow pacing, which sometimes stretches the emotional beat. The movie feels alive with its mix of real footages and deliberate silence. You will find yourself lost in its reflective quiet.
