After Everything (2023)

A bittersweet journey unfolds when a disenchanted songwriter turns to distant shores for redemption. With each color‑laden canvas the filmmaker turns longing into a tangible ache, avoiding the clichés that often plague romantic drama. The lead actor’s quiet, almost‑silent battery of gestures turns every moment into a visceral monologue, while the Portuguese sea is filmed like a character in its own right, doubling your sense of isolation. You’ll find yourself humming along to the underlying score, slowly realizing the protagonist’s past mistake is more about the future than the past. A sluggish midsection might distract, but then the resurgence in the final act forces you to feel the cost of change as if it were your own.
