Abigail (2024)

You step into a claustrophobic room where the line between hostage and predator blurs. The film turns the conventional ransom plot on its head, turning the captive into a spectral force that slowly turns the villains against themselves. Joaquin Phoenix, in a near-voiceless performance, anchors the uneasy tension and lets his presence linger like a shadow every frame. You will find yourself gripping your screen as every heartbeat syncs with the escalating dread. Only brief moments of pacing drag in the middle, but the film largely maintains its unsettling drive.
