A Complete Unknown (2024)

You step into a New York studio flooded with raw chords and the faint scent of rye, instantly pulling you back to the early 1960s. The film follows a Minnesota prodigy whose arrival turns the West Village into a living stage, an experience that feels as intimate as a backstage whisper. The director’s decision to film guitar solos in slow motion, paired with a grainy, jazz‑infused visual palette, makes each note feel like a turning point. You may find the middle section a touch sluggish as the narrative lingers over rehearsals, but the climax rewards patience. Because it marries sharp period detail with quiet rebellion, it speaks to listeners craving authenticity in musical history.
